22 months postdoctoral position on the socio-ecological impacts of the proliferating fireworm Hermodice carunculata in the Mediterranean Sea

## Responsibilities - Contribute to an interdisciplinary research programme investigating the environmental and anthropogenic factors controlling the distribution and spread of H. carunculata across the Mediterranean Sea. - Participate in field monitoring, ecological modelling and socio-ecological analyses. - Contribute to the production of scientific knowledge supporting biodiversity conservation and evidence-based environmental management. - Work within an international consortium to better understand the drivers of the species' proliferation and develop science-based management and mitigation strategies. ## Requirements - Postdoctoral researcher with expertise in marine ecology, environmental monitoring, spatial modelling, stakeholder engagement, and policy support. - Experience in socio-economic impact assessments and ecological modelling. - Strong analytical and research skills with a focus on socio-ecological systems. - Ability to work in an international, interdisciplinary team. - Proficiency in English for communication and collaboration. ## Nice to Have - Experience with data analysis tools and geographic information systems (GIS). - Familiarity with Mediterranean marine ecosystems and their socio-economic contexts. - Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement. ## Benefits - Participation in an international research project funded by BIODIVERSA+. - Opportunity to contribute to science-based environmental management and biodiversity conservation. - Collaborative work environment with leading Mediterranean research institutions.
