Required skills
2+ years building and operating backend services in production, solid grasp of databases (relational and/or NoSQL), experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs, strong problem-solving in complex ambiguous systems, testing and debugging habit, care for reliability and observability in production
Preferred skills
system migration or re-platforming, payments or other correctness-critical flows, search or ranking or relevance, working with structured and unstructured data, experimentation or A/B testing, familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development tools

build and evolve backend services that power how Taskrabbit fulfills jobs, retire a legacy system and migrate live traffic onto a modern platform, improve how jobs are matched and ranked for partner and marketplace jobs, decompose legacy components into independent API-first domain services, build and consume well-designed APIs, interface with adjacent systems and models, own work end-to-end including design docs, code reviews, testing, observability, and share of on-call rotation
