Platform Software Engineer
Required skills
Proficiency in at least one modern backend or systems-level language (e.g., Rust, Go, C++, Python or Java) and a strong enthusiasm for working primarily in Rust. Delivery: A track record of delivering complex projects into production. Hands-on experience making frequent deployments to live environments. Ideally practicing true CICD. Observability: Experience implementing and utilising monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog) to maintain system health and reliability. Experience working effectively in cross-functional Agile teams, collaborating closely with product managers and other engineering teams.
Preferred skills
Prior experience with platform cost optimisation, performance profiling, or capacity planning (FinOps) is a huge plus.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain the automated right-sizing tools that optimise Anaplan’s Kubernetes platform. Write clean, efficient, and robust Rust code to build high performance services. Take ownership of your services throughout their lifecycle—from drafting Helm charts and Jenkins pipelines to setting up alerting, dashboards, and automated testing. Influence technical direction by participating in weekly system design discussions, conducting thorough code reviews, and helping to mentor junior team members. Work closely with team members and the wider engineering community in our York office, helping to align infrastructure efforts with the broader company strategy.
