## About the role - Design and implement secure, scalable APIs and data pipelines for ingesting and distributing dynamic event schedules - Build systems that integrate with calendar platforms (Google, Apple, Outlook) and support AI-driven personalization - Develop event-driven backend infrastructure (e.g., using AWS/GCP, Pub/Sub, EventBridge, etc.) to handle sync, updates, and real-time user customization - Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and AI teammates to ship features with real user impact - Implement and own core backend systems such as: - User identity and authentication (OAuth, session tokens) - Permissions and sharing logic for public/private calendars - Webhook infrastructure for bi-directional sync - Schedule ingestion from formats like PDF, CSV, or API feeds ## What We're Looking For - 6+ years experience building production-grade backend systems at scale - Strong command of Python/NodeJs with experience building APIs (REST/gRPC/GraphQL) - Experience building products from scratch - Experience with LangChain, OpenAI API, or comparable frameworks - Solid grasp of agentic design, API-centric architecture, data pipelines, and testing automation - Hands-on experience with AI/ML integrations (document processing, OCR, content extraction) - Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, subscriptions, event-driven architectures) - Hands-on experience with cloud-native development (GCP Prefered), serverless functions, and containerized deployments - Deep knowledge of one or more: message queues, pub/sub, event-sourcing, or CRON/event scheduling systems - Familiarity with data modeling and storage (PostgreSQL, Redis, BigQuery, Firestore) - Interest in AI/ML systems, especially around real-time personalization or LLM integration - Comfortable working in a startup context: rapid iteration, ambiguous requirements, and direct customer feedback loops - Experience integrating or building with third-party APIs, especially calendar APIs or identity providers (Google, Apple, etc.) ## About the company Moment's mission is to help people show up for the moments that matter most. Today calendars are controlled by platforms and employers, limiting privacy and portability. Published schedules are monolithic and impossible to tailor to individual needs. As a result important moments get missed because it's simply too cumbersome to simply get them onto the calendar. We're changing that by helping brands, sports teams, and IP holders build direct, personalized relationships with their fans through the calendar. Powered by AI, Moment makes it simple to publish dynamic schedules that users can easily tailor and sync to their preferred calendar apps. Fans stay effortlessly up to date, and brands earn a persistent presence in an otherwise noisy, cluttered digital world. We're actively building the founding engineering team, and we're hiring backend and AI systems developers who are specifically eager to contribute to a real 0-1. This is a rare opportunity to help define the architecture, culture, and customer experience of a foundational new product at the intersection of AI, identity, and infrastructure. Passion for sports, music and live events a plus!
