Founding Full Stack Engineer

## About the Role We're looking for a Founding Full Stack Engineer to help drive the next phase of growth at Rafters. This is a hands-on role working directly with the founder to improve the existing platform, launch new features, expand into additional sports, and help shape the future direction of the product. You'll have meaningful influence over technical decisions, product development, and long-term platform strategy. ## Technology Stack - React - Node.js - PostgreSQL - AWS (S3, CloudFront, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS) - React Native (future expansion) ## What You'll Be Working On - Maintaining and improving the live NFL platform - Building new fan-facing features and experiences - Expanding the platform into NBA, MLB, and NHL - Improving performance, scalability, and infrastructure - Reducing technical debt and improving development workflows - Supporting future mobile app development ## First 90 Days ### Month 1 - Learn the platform architecture and infrastructure - Become comfortable with development and deployment workflows - Fix bugs and complete outstanding NFL features ### Month 2 - Take ownership of larger feature development - Improve existing systems and development processes - Identify opportunities to improve scalability and maintainability ### Month 3 - Contribute to multi-sport expansion planning - Become a key voice in technical and product direction - Help shape the long-term technical roadmap ## What We're Looking For - Strong React experience - Strong Node.js experience - PostgreSQL proficiency - AWS familiarity - Experience working on production applications - Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight - Strong sense of ownership and accountability - Communicates proactively when priorities, timelines, or blockers change - Startup mindset and willingness to build from the ground floor - Passion for sports is a major plus ## What We Offer - Equity: 0.25%–2.5% depending on experience, commitment, and scope - Salary begins upon successful completion of the current fundraising round - Fully remote - Flexible schedule ## Bonus Points - Experience with sports data - Experience building consumer-facing products - Experience working at an early-stage startup - Experience with React Native - Experience scaling applications and infrastructure ## About the Company Rafters is building the sports platform fans have always wanted. Sports information is fragmented across dozens of websites. Fans bounce between statistics, contracts, draft history, awards, standings, schedules, and news just to answer simple questions. Rafters brings everything together in one place. Fans can compare players, explore draft classes, view career timelines, research teams, play daily sports games, and discover new insights through an interactive sports database built specifically for fans. The NFL platform is already live with tens of thousands of pages indexed by Google, a growing user base, and a foundation built for future expansion into the NBA, MLB, and NHL.
