## About nOps
nOps is the leading automated FinOps platform for cloud cost optimization, managing over $4B in annual cloud spend for companies from fast growing startups to global enterprises across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. The team is looking for a junior data engineer to work alongside our senior data lead and help us scale our data pipelines and platform.
## The Role
- Builds and maintains the data pipelines that power the nOps platform.
- Works hands on in Databricks for ingestion, transformation, and modeling across our data lakehouse.
- Supports backend infrastructure beyond Databricks, including relational databases and APIs.
- Absorbs institutional knowledge from senior data engineers and helps distribute workload across the team.
## Responsibilities
### Pipeline Development
- Builds, maintains, and improves data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and modeling in Databricks.
- Writes clean, well tested Python and SQL to support our data infrastructure.
- Monitors pipeline health and proactively resolves issues before they impact customers.
### Platform Support
- Supports backend infrastructure beyond Databricks, including connections to relational databases like Postgres.
- Partners with senior data engineers to scope and execute new pipeline work.
- Helps build the infrastructure that connects nOps to our customers' cloud environments.
### Knowledge and Documentation
- Helps document and formalize standard operating procedures for existing pipelines so the team can scale.
- Builds institutional knowledge by learning the system end to end and supporting senior data leads.
- Identifies opportunities to modernize legacy pipelines and processes.
## Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a data engineer or in a closely related role.
- Hands on experience building or maintaining pipelines in Databricks.
- Strong fluency in Python.
- Experience with backend relational databases such as Postgres.
- Active use of AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code in your day to day workflow.
- Self starter mentality, comfortable with ambiguity, curious about how the whole system works.
## Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS infrastructure.
- Background in FinOps, cloud cost optimization, observability, or a related infrastructure or DevOps category.
- Experience building or maintaining ETL pipelines at scale.
- Familiarity with version control and modern dev workflows.
- Exposure to PySpark or distributed data processing frameworks.
