Software Development Engineer 2 – MERN Stack

## About the Role We are looking for a skilled MERN Stack Developer – SDE 2 with strong experience in building scalable web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on both frontend and backend development, writing clean and maintainable code, integrating APIs, handling databases, and taking ownership of features from planning to deployment. ## Responsibilities - Developing and maintaining web applications using the MERN stack. - Building responsive and user-friendly frontend interfaces using React.js. - Creating REST APIs using Node.js and Express.js. - Working with MongoDB for database design, queries, and optimization. - Integrating third-party APIs and services. - Writing clean, reusable, and maintainable code. - Debugging, testing, and fixing application issues. - Collaborating with designers, backend/frontend developers, and project managers. - Participating in code reviews and improving code quality. - Taking ownership of assigned modules and delivering them on time. ## Required Skills - Strong knowledge of JavaScript. - Hands-on experience with React.js. - Experience with Node.js and Express.js. - Good understanding of MongoDB. - Experience in building and consuming REST APIs. - Knowledge of authentication and authorization, such as JWT, cookies, sessions, etc. - Good understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design. - Familiarity with Git and GitHub/GitLab. - Ability to write clean and structured code. - Good problem-solving and debugging skills. ## Good to Have - Experience with TypeScript. - Knowledge of Next.js. - Experience with Redux, Zustand, or Context API. - Basic knowledge of cloud deployment such as AWS, Azure, Render, Vercel, or DigitalOcean. - Experience with Docker. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines. - Knowledge of unit testing or API testing tools like Jest, Postman, or Swagger. ## Requirements - 2–4 years of professional experience in full-stack development. - At least 1.5+ years of hands-on MERN stack experience. - Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks. - Good communication and teamwork skills. - Strong understanding of frontend and backend development workflows. ## Preferred Candidate - We are looking for someone who: - Can build complete features independently. - Understands both frontend and backend development. - Can debug issues without heavy dependency. - Writes maintainable code. - Is willing to learn and adapt quickly. - Can work in a startup/product-based environment.
