## About the Role
As Senior Product Designer, you will own the experience that turns complex health data into simple, motivating, behavior-changing product moments. You will design how members move from onboarding to lab testing, results reveal, personalized plans, daily actions, weekly review, and retesting. You will make biomarkers understandable to someone with zero medical background. You will make the plan feel active, directive, and human — not like a PDF, a dashboard, or a generic wellness feed. This role is not only visual design. We need a design partner with strong process, product judgment, interaction craft, and obsessive attention to detail. Someone who can take ambiguity, clinical complexity, engineering constraints, and user anxiety — and turn them into experiences that feel obvious. The product challenge is hard: health is emotional, data-heavy, bilingual, and high-trust. That is exactly why design matters.
## About Atheal
Most people don't engage with their health until something goes wrong. Not because they don't care — because the experience is terrible: confusing interfaces, overwhelming data, medical language, no clear path forward. Atheal is building the missing layer in consumer health: a trusted guide that turns complex biological data into clarity, confidence, and action. We combine comprehensive biomarker testing, deep medical expertise, and consumer-grade product design to help people understand their health before problems emerge. This is not another health app. Experience is the value. The difference between a member ignoring their lab results and a member changing behavior is often the quality of the interface, the moment, the language, and the interaction.
## What You'll Own
### Behavior-Driven Product Design
- Design experiences that guide people toward healthier decisions instead of simply displaying data.
- Humanize lab results, biomarkers, risk signals, clinician notes, and health plans so they are understandable without medical background.
- Create contextual experiences that meet members where they are: before testing, while waiting, at first results, during daily plan execution, and at retest.
- Make taking action feel natural, not overwhelming — the member should know what to do next within seconds.
- Design for behavior change without guilt, judgment, or gamification that trivializes health.
### Core Product Flows
You will work across the full member journey, including:
- First app open and onboarding
- Health profile and sensitive-question flows
- Lab booking, prep instructions, no-show/reschedule/partial-completion states
- Waiting-for-results experience
- First-time results reveal
- Returning/retest results reveal with visible progress
- Health tab / biomarker detail / personal health record
- Plan start, plan library, supplement and lifestyle action details
- Home as a daily touchpoint
- Weekly rewind / review
- Companion / AI-assisted action entry points
- Referral, gifting, and other growth-adjacent product moments
### Interaction & Interface Excellence
- Design high-fidelity UI in Figma with precision: hierarchy, spacing, typography, states, motion, transitions, and micro-interactions.
- Prototype flows that demonstrate timing, behavior, feedback, and feel — not just static layout.
- Define what happens on tap, press, loading, success, failure, empty, error, partial, and returning-user states.
- Build components and patterns that scale across iOS, web, and future surfaces.
- Make interfaces feel effortless: the kind where users think, "of course it works this way."
### Complex Information Made Simple
- Turn dense biological and behavioral data into simple, prioritized, emotionally safe experiences.
- Design for comprehension over coverage: not everything needs to be shown at once; everything shown must help the user understand or act.
- Translate numbers into meaning: every biomarker, wearable metric, score, or trend should answer "what does this mean for me?" and "what should I do?"
- Avoid spreadsheet energy, report energy, and generic dashboard patterns when the moment requires guidance.
- Develop interaction patterns for dense plan content: progressive disclosure, contextual surfacing, libraries/vaults, story-style review, and current-priority views.
### Arabic / English Product Design
- Create RTL-ready designs that work natively in Arabic and English.
- Account for Arabic text expansion, mirrored navigation, reversed layout logic, typography, date/number formatting, and cultural expectations.
- Treat Arabic parity as a product quality requirement, not a localization pass at the end.
### Design Systems & Production Quality
- Build and maintain Atheal's design system: tokens, components, variants, accessibility, state matrices, and usage rules.
- Keep files clean, named, annotated, and understandable to product, engineering, QA, and AI-assisted implementation tools.
- Deliver production-ready specs that engineers can implement with confidence.
- Provide interaction notes, acceptance criteria, motion references, and edge-case coverage.
- Audit implementation before release and push for craft quality when the built product drifts from the intended experience.
### Research, Iteration & Measurement
- Plan and run discovery interviews, usability tests, concept validation, and comprehension testing with real users in Saudi Arabia.
- Test whether users understand their results, know what action to take, and feel motivated rather than anxious.
- Use success metrics to evaluate design decisions: completion, comprehension, conversion, engagement, retention, Arabic parity, and member confidence.
- Explore multiple interaction pattern variants for hard problems instead of jumping to the first solution.
- Iterate quickly while preserving a high bar for experience quality.
## What We Have Learned The Hard Way
We are hiring for this role because our product is design-constrained. Our previous design work with external partners showed us what excellent product design at Atheal must include.
The right designer for Atheal must be strong in these areas:
