Lead Backend & AI Systems Engineer (Contract)

## About the role AI Deploy Labs is an APAC-focused AI implementation and deployment firm helping organizations bridge the gap between AI experimentation and operational implementation. We work with businesses across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and the broader APAC region to identify, build, and deploy practical AI solutions that improve operational efficiency, automate workflows, and deliver measurable business outcomes. We are looking for a Lead Backend & AI Systems Engineer to help build and lead the technical execution layer of the company. In this role, you will work closely with the Founder, Solutions Architects, and AI Engineers to design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications, AI agents, workflow automation solutions, and enterprise AI systems. ## Responsibilities - Design and develop AI-powered applications and backend systems - Build and deploy AI agents, automation workflows, and LLM-based solutions - Design and implement RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) architectures - Integrate AI systems with third-party APIs, databases, CRMs, and enterprise platforms - Develop scalable backend services and system architectures - Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions - Contribute to technical strategy, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices - Support the deployment and optimization of AI solutions in production environments ## Requirements - Strong experience with Python and backend application development - Experience working with LLMs, AI agents, RAG systems, or AI-powered applications - Experience building and integrating APIs - Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure - Experience with databases, vector databases, and modern backend architectures - Strong problem-solving and communication skills - Professional English communication skills ## Nice to Have - Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar frameworks - Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) - Experience building workflow automation solutions - Experience working with enterprise clients or large-scale systems - Previous startup or entrepreneurial experience ## Location Remote (APAC Preferred) We particularly welcome applications from Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. ## Why Join AI Deploy Labs?
