## Lead Python Engineer (Backend) Location: Remote Hours: 4 hours daily overlap with US Eastern Time (EST) required ## About the role We're looking for a Lead Python Engineer to take ownership of our backend — someone who has built systems that handle real scale and is ready to set technical direction, not just ship features. You'll architect core services, raise the engineering bar, and mentor a small, sharp team. If you've spent the last several years deep in Python backends and have started bringing LLMs into production, this is a chance to do both as a leader. ## What you'll do - Own the architecture, design, and evolution of our backend services - Build and scale APIs and systems that stay reliable as traffic and data grow - Lead by example — write high-quality, well-tested code and give thoughtful reviews - Mentor engineers, set standards, and shape how the team builds - Integrate LLMs into the product — from straightforward API-based features to RAG pipelines - Work closely with product, frontend, and (occasionally) clients to turn fuzzy problems into shipped solutions - Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability ## What we're looking for - 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including products operating at meaningful scale - Deep expertise in Python and its ecosystem (e.g., FastAPI / Django / Flask, async, testing) - Solid grasp of databases, caching, queues, and distributed-systems fundamentals - Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into a web application, or building RAG-based applications - Excellent written and verbal communication — you can explain technical decisions to engineers and non-engineers alike - Proven track record working remotely, ideally with clients or teams outside your home country - Comfortable with substantial daily overlap with the EST time zone ## Nice to have - Experience with Go (Golang) - Prior experience leading or mentoring a team - Exposure to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability tooling - B2B SaaS product experience We're moving quickly — a shorter notice period / earlier availability is a strong plus
