## About the role We're on the lookout for a high-energy Software Engineer with a backend focus to become a pivotal hire within our Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on ambiguity, loves to mold our technology direction, spearhead innovation, and ship robust, scalable, and efficiently performing solutions at breakneck speed. Above all, this position will focus on delivering lightning-fast, game-changing products to our clients and hotel customers. You will work with Python, FastAPI, Postgres, Docker, and AWS cloud services to architect and build robust APIs and backend infrastructure for our AI-powered personalization engine. ## Responsibilities - Develop and maintain backend services using Python and PostgreSQL - Build lightning-fast integrations with both new and legacy systems, including external 3rd-party APIs and data sources - Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver a cohesive user experience - Architect and deploy secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud-based applications using AWS services - Own and resolve critical issues in live production environments with speed and precision - Drive a culture of technical excellence, bold innovation, and relentless learning - Champion cutting-edge backend technologies and lead technical improvements across the stack ## Requirements - 5+ years of experience in backend development, shown professional experience with Python APIs - Experience with other backend languages such as Java or Go - Proven track record interfacing and integrating with 3rd party APIs and SDKs - Strong knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, GCP, and Vercel - Advanced knowledge of SQL. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) - Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure application architectures - Demonstrated skill in navigating complex problem-solving, code optimization, and project management - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Startup DNA - you've shipped code to production consistently and love the fast-paced, high-impact environment ## Nice to have - Go programming experience - Kubernetes ecosystem expertise (K8s, Helm, EKS) - Event streaming with Kafka - Microservices architecture and patterns - GitOps with ArgoCD - gRPC service development ## What we offer - Shape the future as a founding-level engineer in a growing startup and make a significant impact on the hospitality technology industry. - International focus - the hotel industry is international and we'll be expanding outside of the US quickly.
