## About the Role
We're a well-funded, rapidly growing startup on a mission to provide world-class AI-based learning for all students and educators. Our brand promise to learners is "Tell Thea about the test, and we'll do the rest." Thea adapts seamlessly and effortlessly to any course or curriculum and empowers the learner to truly master the material, not just memorize it. We care far more about user feedback than accolades but in 2025 we were ranked 3rd in the user-based AI tools ranking.
## About the Team
We are a small, driven, and passionate team with deep experience in software engineering and data analytics. Our founder and CEO, Anthony Bruce, was the co-founder and CEO of Applied Predictive Technologies, which was acquired by Mastercard in 2015. At our current scale, we highly value working together in person for rapid collaboration, brainstorming, and decision-making. Recently, Thea was recognized as one of the DC Area's Best Places to Work.
## About the Role
If you'd been with us this past month, you'd have:
- Developed a new technique for interacting with LLMs to yield higher-quality output.
- Contributed to the product and technical roadmaps in company-wide discussions.
- Learned a new programming language or software framework on-the-fly.
- Designed and implemented every aspect of a new product feature from the back-end data model to the front-end user experience.
- Rolled out your feature to our production servers and analyzed logs as users began to interact with it.
- Competed with your team members in a fun afternoon activity (like gingerbread house building!).
## About You
- You've worked alongside top technical talent and stood out as a leader.
- You care about solving problems not just in some way, but the right way.
- You care about the impact of the products you build.
- You're excited to work with us in-person in Arlington, VA.
- Experience with relevant technologies (e.g., TypeScript, AWS, Mobile, .NET, PHP, RDBMS, AI, mobile app development) or domains (education, consumer-facing software) is a plus but not required.
