## About Us
Softdrive is a startup on a mission to make powerful compute accessible to every enterprise, without the complexity or cost that has defined the VDI industry for decades. We build and stream high-performance virtual desktops to any device, across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, so teams can stay productive from anywhere without being constrained by their hardware.
Our performance is 5x faster and our setup time is 80% shorter than the legacy industry players. We deliver the lowest total cost of ownership in the market, handle GPU- and CPU-intensive workloads at scale, and eliminate the burden of physical hardware management. We're proud to build in partnership with Oracle, NVIDIA, and Autodesk.
Joining Softdrive means working on hard infrastructure problems that actually matter, at a company early enough that your work shapes the product, the team, and the culture. We move fast, operate with high ownership, and are building something the industry's biggest players haven't been able to crack.
## About the Role
As Team Lead of Infrastructure & DevOps, you'll own the architecture, reliability, and scalability of Softdrive's core virtualization platform. This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll be in the code and config alongside your team while also driving priorities, coordinating workload across a distributed organization, and raising the technical bar across the board. You'll work on cutting-edge infrastructure challenges including app virtualization, provisioning and maintenance automation, cloud, onprem and hybrid deployments, and SASE networking, building technology that defines the future of VDI.
## Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Softdrive's KVM/oVirt virtualization environment on top of bare metal and public cloud infrastructure
- Own infrastructure reliability, uptime, and site reliability engineering practices
- Lead and coordinate a distributed, cross-timezone DevOps team — managing sprint planning, workload prioritization, and delivery cadence
- Drive automation across image management and infrastructure provisioning
- Own networking configuration including SASE, VPN, VLANs, subnets, and firewall management
- Participate in on-call rotation as the senior escalation point for production incidents, and establish on-call processes and runbooks for the broader team
- Establish and enforce infrastructure best practices, documentation standards, and incident response processes
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate roadmap requirements into infrastructure decisions
- Serve as the technical escalation point for your team and a thought partner to leadership on infrastructure strategy
## About You
### Requirements & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or DevOps engineering
- 2+ years in a team lead or technical lead capacity
- Deep, hands-on experience with hypervisors — KVM strongly preferred
- Proficiency with oVirt, or vCenter and server management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Puppet or Chef
- Strong networking fundamentals — VLANs, subnets, firewalls, NIC virtualization and cloud networking (dynamic routing gateways, peering connections, etc)
- Experience with cloud orchestration and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Proficiency with container technologies at scale — Kubernetes, Docker
- Solid understanding of OS fundamentals including memory hierarchy, storage, and compute
- Comfortable owning production environments and driving SRE practices
- Strong communication skills — able to operate effectively across timezones and translate technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders
### Nice-to-Have
- Experience working at an early-stage startup
- Experience leading or managing a distributed/remote team
- Familiarity with VDI or Desktop-as-a-Service platforms
- Working knowledge of GPU virtualization and hardware performance optimization
- Experience with cloud management platforms such as OpenStack
