Data Scientist (w/m/d)
Role Overview:
The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University is seeking a Data Scientist (w/m/d) to join a new, interdisciplinary working group at the interface of epidemiology, computer science, and medicine. The role focuses on secondary data analysis and model development for the prediction of sepsis and other relevant endpoints in clinical data. The position is part of a project funded by the BMFTR, under the leadership of PD Dr. Dr. Verena Schneider-Lindner at the Chair of Complex Data Processing in Medical Informatics (Prof. Dr. M. Lablans). The position is available immediately, full-time or part-time, initially limited to 3 years with an option for extension.
Responsibilities:
- Participation in data preparation and validation
- Collaboration in data management and documentation of complex clinical datasets
- Support of colleagues' analyses, supervision of students and doctoral candidates
- Planning and conducting own analyses and method development
- Writing reports and articles for publications of the working group
Requirements and Qualifications:
- University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, or a related field with a strong quantitative orientation
- Interest in medical questions and practical experience with the scientific use of secondary data, preferably from several years of relevant professional experience
- Programming skills in R, SAS, and/or Python, or willingness to acquire these skills based on comparable experience
- Commitment, flexibility, reliability, and teamwork skills
- German and English language skills in speech and writing
