## About the role As a Senior Production Quality Engineer at Astranis, you'll play a key role in building high-reliability satellite hardware as we expand our manufacturing capabilities. You'll work closely with engineering and production teams to solve complex quality challenges, lead root cause investigations, and help ensure our hardware meets the rigorous standards required for spaceflight. We're looking for a hands-on engineer with experience in electronics or electro-mechanical hardware manufacturing, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a strong track record of working effectively in dynamic environments. ## Responsibilities - Perform and support quality functions such as nonconformance resolution, first article inspection, root cause analysis, corrective actions, containments, statistical process control, etc. - Collaborate with design engineering teams to develop standards for part drawings, including identification of key characteristics, dimensioning and GD&T, and first article inspection plans for electro-mechanical assemblies. - Write and maintain quality management system (QMS) command media to govern how we design, build, and test hardware. - Perform process validation for new manufacturing processes in collaboration with production engineering. - Monitor key quality metrics such as product yield and in-process inspection results to help identify trends and areas for improvement. - Participate in quality reviews and audits to ensure adherence to process requirements and design intent. - Support process improvements that enhance manufacturability, reduce defects, or streamline production flow. - Contribute to the definition and enforcement of factory standards such as ESD handling, tool calibration and cleanliness requirements. ## Requirements - Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline. - 6+ years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role. (3+ years with an MS/PhD) - Experience with inspection techniques, electronics troubleshooting and basic GD&T principles. - Experience with CAD, PLM, or ERP systems such as Solidworks, Altium, and Arena. - Basic proficiency in Python or SQL for data analysis. - Familiarity with root cause analysis, corrective action, and basic quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto). - Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. - Demonstrated application of process validation and control methods such as PFMEA, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical process control (SPC). - Hands-on experience qualifying and maintaining manufacturing processes for electronics and/or mechanical assemblies. - Experience reviewing design documentation and implementing first-article inspection plans. ## Bonus - Knowledgeable in spaceflight hardware design, standards, requirement trades, and manufacturing limitations. - Demonstrated high-impact project ownership and deployment of Quality systems. - Experience leading production containments for supplier and/or in-house manufacturing defects. - Strong SQL and Python skills, and demonstrated ability to manage large data sets and create useful tools/dashboards/reports for others. ## About the company Astranis
