## About the Role
Founding pillar of the Lens newsroom. New York. Equity. Full-time.
## About the Company
Lens is building credibility infrastructure for the information economy. Our core product is the Information Quality Standard — the IQS — a transparent, auditable article-level credibility score. A nutritional label for information. Bloomberg built the terminal for finance. Moody's built it for credit. We are building it for information.
Pre-seed closed in March. Looking to close a $5M seed this month. A lean, mission-driven team. The product is being built. The standard is what comes next.
## The Role
You will build, lead, and operate the Lens newsroom. Five specialized desks. Every article scored by the IQS before it ships, and every article a proof of what proper journalism should look like.
This is not an editorial seat at a publication. The newsroom is the proving ground for a credibility standard the rest of the industry will eventually license. You are setting the bar for the industry.
## What You Own
- The standard. Every desk, every byline, every dimension the IQS measures — funding and conflicts, sourcing, framing, omission, tone. You codify how Lens reports, and that codification becomes a public methodology.
- The newsroom. Hiring and developing desk leads across the seven verticals. Building the rhythm of a 24/7 operation that publishes against the score, not against the clock.
- The integration. The IQS is not a post-hoc grader. It runs inside the editorial workflow. You design that workflow with our engineering and expert panel — pre-publication scoring, revision loops, transparent disclosure.
- The voice. Lens does not write like anyone else. You enforce that.
## Who You Are
- You have run a newsroom or a major desk. You have hired, fired, and shipped under pressure. Resumes that read as managerial do not interest us — we want the people who actually built the room.
- You think in systems, not stories. A workflow that scores ten thousand articles is a different animal than a workflow that ships ten, and you are wired for the former.
- You have an unresolved problem with how media currently works. Not a complaint — a position. You have thought about it longer than most people you know.
## What This Is Not
- Equity-only at this stage. Founding team. Salary on close of the seed. If a title and a paycheck are the entry point of the conversation, this is not the role.
- We are building infrastructure that will outlast every one of us. The bar is high on purpose.
