## About the Role
Vedric is an early-stage cybersecurity company building an insider risk platform powered by behavioral analysis. Our platform helps organizations detect abnormal user and system activity early, before threats escalate and data is lost. We're redefining how companies approach insider threat detection, giving security teams the visibility and early signals they need to act fast.
This is a full-time remote role for a Founding Engineer at Vedric. You will be the first engineering hire working on an already built and functioning insider-risk detection platform. Your role is to take the existing system and evolve it into a scalable, production-ready product.
This includes improving and extending the detection engine, strengthening backend architecture, scaling infrastructure, and refining data pipelines. You will work directly with the founder to shape the product, make key technical decisions, and define engineering standards as the company grows. As the team expands, you will take on a leadership role and help build and manage the engineering function.
## What You'll Do
- Own and evolve the existing detection platform, improving reliability, performance, and scalability across the system.
- Work on the behavioral detection engine, refining how telemetry is processed, baselined, and turned into alerts.
- Optimize and scale data ingestion pipelines handling high-volume endpoint telemetry and real-time event processing.
- Improve and extend backend APIs and data models that power the analyst-facing dashboard.
- Strengthen infrastructure and deployment systems to support multi-tenant environments and production workloads.
- Identify gaps, edge cases, and failure points in the current system, and implement robust solutions.
- Collaborate directly with the founder to prioritize features, refine detection logic, and shape the product roadmap.
- Act as the technical face of Vedric when needed, explaining system design, tradeoffs, and architecture in a clear and practical way.
- Operate with high ownership in an early-stage environment, making decisions across backend, infrastructure, and product.
- Help establish engineering standards, workflows, and the foundation for future hires.
## Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in backend development, system architecture, and Python. Experience designing and building scalable systems that handle high-volume data in real time. Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, GCP, or Azure, including deploying and managing production systems.
- Experience building backend services and APIs that support data-driven applications. Familiarity with designing and developing dashboards or analyst-facing interfaces is preferred.
- Understanding of data modeling, event-driven architectures, and streaming systems is a plus. Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, secure application development, and data protection. Familiarity with anomaly detection, behavioral analytics, or UEBA is a strong plus.
- Ability to take full ownership of problems and ship end to end without hand holding. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment with high autonomy and ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly. Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally and contributing to product and architectural decisions.
- Prior experience at a security company or early-stage startup is a plus. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cyber Security or equivalent practical experience.
## What We Offer
- Meaningful founding level equity with a 4 year vest and 1 year cliff.
- Competitive base salary.
- Founding Engineer title.
- Remote first, async friendly work environment.
- Direct access to the founder and full ownership of technical decisions.
- Clear path to Head of Engineering or VP of Engineering as the company scales.
