## About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Controller to be at the forefront of optimizing our accounting operations — the ideal candidate is comfortable identifying process improvements as they are closing the books. This position extends beyond traditional financial oversight; it involves leading tax and financial reporting compliance, ownership of payroll operations, the integrity of our revenue infrastructure, and the ongoing development of our accounting practices. We are looking for a finance professional who combines deep technical expertise with a demonstrated track record of leadership and the judgment to drive accuracy and adaptability in our financial strategies. The ideal candidate approaches the complexity of a growing organization with rigor, curiosity, and a genuine drive to build something better.

- Lead the year-end audit, including ownership of the audited financial statements and notes, and act as a primary liaison with external auditors
- Partner cross-functionally and provide accounting expertise to support billing and revenue infrastructure optimization, and drive the implementation of a new revenue tool (Leapfin) over the finish line
- Lead US and Canadian corporate tax compliance and filings, including SR&ED, transfer pricing, US sales tax, and HST filings
- Partner with the Payroll Manager to take ownership of payroll operations, ensuring Rippling is configured correctly, all compliance and tax obligations are met, and bi-weekly & bi-monthly payroll submissions are timely and accurate
- Own the accounting tech stack and lead the evaluation and implementation of AI-powered tools and workflows that improve efficiency and accuracy
- Manage and mentor a team of 2 Accounting Managers, 3 Senior Accountants and 1 Payroll Manager by providing coaching to support their development
- Ask questions, be curious, challenge old ways of thinking, and drive continuous improvement in how accounting supports the business
