Python Backend Developer

## About the Role We are looking for a seasoned Python Backend Developer to join the HealthCompiler engineering team. In this role, you will build backend services, APIs, and data integrations that power our healthcare analytics platform used by healthcare organizations in the US. You will work closely with the data, product, and integration teams to develop reliable backend systems and support ongoing platform development in a fast-paced startup environment. ## Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain backend services using Python - Develop and manage REST APIs for internal applications and customer-facing platforms - Work with databases such as PostgreSQL and BigQuery - Support development of data pipelines and background jobs - Build integrations with external systems and APIs - Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of backend services - Participate in debugging, production support, and code reviews ## Required Skills - 3+years of experience in Python backend development - Experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django - Strong understanding of REST API design and development - Experience with SQL databases (preferably PostgreSQL) - Comfortable working with Git and collaborative development workflows - Knowledge of using AI tools for development like – Claude, Cursor, Gemini is a must ## Good to Have - Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) - Exposure to Docker or container-based deployments - Experience in database performance optimization / fine tuning ## About the Company At Health Compiler, we're building the data infrastructure layer for the future of healthcare — combining analytics, AI, and automation to power direct care, self-funded plans, and next-gen healthcare delivery.
