## About the role
We're looking for a senior React Native engineer to own and push forward our mobile trading experience. The app is already in production: real users, real money, real-time markets. You'll be building new features, improving performance, and making sure the app feels fast and reliable across both platforms.
This is a high-autonomy role. You'll make decisions about architecture, UX implementation, and how things ship. We don't have layers of process - you'll have direct context on the product and the freedom to move quickly.
## What you'll work on
- Trading UI - Build and refine complex trading interfaces: order entry, position management, real-time price updates, and charting.
- Navigation & Screen Architecture - Design and maintain screen flows using Expo Router (file-based routing), bottom tabs, top tabs, modals, and deep linking.
- State Management - Work with Jotai atoms and TanStack Query to manage reactive app state, server state caching, and offline persistence.
- Real-Time Data - Handle WebSocket connections for live market data, order fills, and position updates - including lifecycle management across app state transitions.
- Performance - Keep animations at 60fps using Reanimated worklets, optimize list rendering with FlashList, and profile startup time and memory usage.
- Graphics & Charting - Build and maintain candlestick charts and data visualizations using React Native Skia.
- Authentication & Security - Work with Privy-based auth flows, biometric unlock (Face ID/Touch ID), passkeys, and secure credential storage.
- Wallet & Blockchain Integration - Support multi-wallet architecture (Privy embedded wallets + Hyperliquid wallets), transaction signing, and cross-chain bridge flows.
- Payments & Funding - Integrate fiat on-ramp/off-ramp (MoonPay), crypto deposits/withdrawals, and account transfers.
- Build & Release - Manage EAS Build profiles, OTA updates via Expo Updates, and App Store / Play Store submissions.
- Shared Packages - Contribute to monorepo packages consumed by the mobile app - UI components (Tamagui), constants, utilities, and the Hyperliquid SDK.
## What We're Looking For
### Must-have
- 5+ years of professional mobile development experience, with at least 3 years focused on React Native.
- Deep understanding of React Native internals - the bridge, Hermes, native modules, and platform-specific behavior on iOS and Android.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern React patterns (hooks, context, concurrent features).
- Experience with Expo managed and bare workflows, including EAS Build, Expo Router, and OTA updates.
- Solid experience with state management in React Native - ideally Jotai, Zustand, or similar atomic/store-based approaches alongside TanStack Query.
- Hands-on work with React Native Reanimated - UI-thread animations, gesture-driven interactions, shared element transitions.
- Experience building and optimizing high-performance lists (FlashList, FlatList virtualization, scroll performance).
- Comfort with native debugging - Xcode, Android Studio, Flipper, profiling tools, crash logs.
- Experience with App Store and Play Store release processes, code signing, and distribution.
- Strong instincts around mobile UX - responsive layouts, keyboard handling, haptic feedback, platform conventions.
### Nice-to-have
- Experience with React Native Skia or custom canvas-based rendering for charts and visualizations.
- Familiarity with Web3 / crypto - wallet management, transaction signing, interacting with on-chain APIs.
- Experience with Privy, WalletConnect, or similar embedded wallet SDKs.
- Hands-on experience with Tamagui or other cross-platform design systems for React Native.
- Knowledge of WebSocket lifecycle management in mobile contexts (background/foreground transitions, reconnection strategies).
- Experience with biometric authentication - Face ID, Touch ID, passkeys/WebAuthn on mobile.
- Familiarity with push notifications setup and handling (Expo Notifications, APNs, FCM).
- Experience with analytics and observability tooling - Sentry, Segment, or similar in a mobile context.
- Exposure to monorepo tooling (Turborepo, pnpm workspaces) and API client code generation (Orval).
- Familiarity with Hyperliquid or other DEX integrations.
## What you'll get
- A small, high-output team where your work ships fast and matters
- Direct ownership over backend systems - no waiting for approval chains
- A modern TypeScript stack with good tooling already in place
- The chance to build infrastructure for a growing crypto trading platform
