## About the role We are building a next-generation AI-driven communication platform (mobile, desktop, backend) and are looking for a senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET to own quality end-to-end. This is not a manual QA role. You will design and build the automated testing system across Flutter apps, backend services, and AI-assisted workflows. You will be the first dedicated QA automation hire and will own the testing strategy across the system. ## Location We are based in the Bay Area and require someone local who can occasionally work in-person in office in downtown San Francisco for device testing and collaboration, but the role is primarily remote. ## Responsibilities - Design and own the full test strategy across UI, backend, integration, regression, and release - Build deterministic regression suites for Flutter mobile and desktop apps - Build backend and API regression and contract tests - Stand up CI-based test pipelines and device lab execution - Own staging system-wide regression before release - Implement visual regression (golden testing) for key UI flows - Build local test runners for engineers (pre-merge validation) - Define test data strategy, fixtures, and seeded environments - Turn bugs and incidents into permanent automated coverage - Build lightweight evaluation systems for AI features where needed ## Requirements - 5+ years experience as QA Automation Engineer, SDET, or similar - Strong hands-on Flutter testing experience (fluttertest, integrationtest) - Experience testing mobile apps on iOS and Android, including real devices - Strong backend and API testing experience - Experience building and maintaining CI-based test pipelines - Deep understanding of deterministic testing and flaky test reduction ## Nice to Have - Experience with Appium, Firebase Test Lab - Experience testing Flutter desktop apps (macOS or Windows) - Experience with visual regression tools (golden_toolkit, alchemist) - Experience testing AI or LLM-based systems ## Engagement - long-term, full-time, initially a trial basis - Bay Area candidates only
