## About Barrel RM Barrel RM is a distilled spirits contract manufacturer applying advanced technology and technical precision to launch and scale the next generation of alcohol beverage brands. We are a fast-growing team focused on creating a sustainable manufacturing platform that bridges the gap between legacy craft and modern efficiency - offering a unique opportunity to build the modern infrastructure of a centuries-old industry. ## About the Role This is a hands-on Automation Process Technician role responsible for the performance of our automation-driven spirits processing systems. You'll be the technical owner of the day-to-day operations of manufacturing equipment—keeping runs consistent, traceable, and moving smoothly—while supporting equipment performance and continuous improvement over time. The role is primarily spirits production and may also support bottling/canning line technology as needed. ## What You'll Do - Operate automated spirits processing equipment (blending, proofing, transfers, filtration, and CIP/cleaning systems) - Run batches through HMI screens using defined recipes/setpoints; monitor key readings and make in-process adjustments within approved parameters - Diagnose alarms/fault codes using HMI screens and basic system readings; troubleshoot issues in real time and restore normal operation - Provide hands-on production support during runs (hose/valve routing, connections, changeovers, filter swaps as applicable, and basic resets/clearing faults) - Execute and maintain cleaning/CIP routines and checklists to keep the system sanitary and ready for the next run - Complete PM checklists (startup/shutdown checks, inspections, and basic upkeep/cleanliness checks as applicable) and flag items that require maintenance follow-up - Document runs and issues clearly (what happened, alarms/fault codes, actions taken, outcomes, and what to watch next time) - Coordinate with maintenance/vendors/controls support when repairs or controls changes are needed; provide clear troubleshooting context and ensure follow-through - Flag issues and propose practical process improvements that reduce downtime and stabilize batch outcomes over time ## What Success Looks Like - Issues are caught early, addressed, and documented - Planned Maintenance checklists are completed consistently and prevent breakdowns instead of reacting to them - Batch runs stay on target (quality/repeatability), with minimal rework or avoidable delays - CIP/cleaning cycles are executed correctly and equipment is consistently "ready to run" - Run data and documentation are captured consistently so production is traceable and repeatable - Spare parts and basic maintenance systems are organized - Operating and maintenance standards keep production consistent week over week - Alarm/fault response is timely and standardized—guides/checklists are clear and used ## Who This Role Is For You like roles where you're operating automation-driven process equipment. You're hands-on, detail-oriented, and accountable, with practical troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. You're comfortable working through HMIs, alarms/fault codes, sensors, and setpoints/recipes, and you escalate early when something is beyond scope. You're collaborative and dependable. You're also comfortable in a production environment (PPE, physical movement, occasional lifting, etc.) ## Requirements - 3+ years in an automated manufacturing role (beverage/spirits/food/CPG/chemical/pharma) with a related technical degree/certification OR 5+ years in a similar role without a technical degree/certification - Comfortable operating equipment via HMIs; able to interpret alarms/fault codes and basic system readings - Hands-on troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems in a production environment - Strong documentation habits (run notes, checklists, issue summaries) ## Nice to Have - Familiarity with PLC programming - Knowledge of distilled spirits production - Experience with packaging (bottling/canning) ## Why Barrel RM You'll be operating the core automation-driven systems that produce whiskeys, rums, tequilas and blended products. This role has real ownership: you'll run batch operations, keep runs consistent, and help tighten how production works as we scale. You'll be responsible for the equipment, the process, and the outcome—and be part of setting what modern spirits production looks like. ## Work Environment Comfortable working in a warehouse and production setting with varying temperatures, including warmer conditions in summer months, and moderate to high noise levels during production runs. ## Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and move throughout the facility, lift and move up to 50 lbs, and perform computer-based work as needed. ## Additional Requirements Final candidates may be subject to a background check, in accordance with applicable law. ## Health & Safety Must follow all company health, safety, and workplace policies. ## Equal Opportunity Employer BarrelRM is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse and inclusive workplace. If you need a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process, please let us know.
