## About the Role
The Performance Test Engineer will support and execute performance engineering and non-functional testing activities for enterprise-scale applications.
The role focuses on contributing to or owning aspects of performance test planning, workload modelling, test execution, monitoring, analysis, and optimization, with the goal of identifying performance risks, ensuring scalability, and delivering data-driven performance insights that support system stability and reliability.
## Key Responsibilities
### Performance Testing Lifecycle & Ownership
- Contribute to or lead one or more phases of the end-to-end performance testing lifecycle, including planning, strategy definition, test design, scripting, execution, monitoring, analysis, and reporting
- Execute or support load, stress, endurance, volume, and scalability testing for enterprise-grade applications
### Performance Strategy, Planning & Modelling
- Participate in or support creation of performance testing strategies aligned with business and non-functional requirements
- Perform or assist with workload modelling, user distribution analysis, and performance scenario design
- Contribute to defining SLAs, performance benchmarks, and capacity assumptions
- Support planning and coordination of performance testing across environments and release cycles
### Execution, Monitoring & Analysis
- Execute performance tests and evaluate application behavior under various load conditions
- Identify, analyze, and document performance bottlenecks across one or more layers, including:
- Application
- Middleware
- Database
- Infrastructure
- Support or conduct root cause analysis using test results, logs, and monitoring metrics
### APM, Correlation & Diagnostics
- Use APM and monitoring tools to correlate performance metrics across system tiers
- Analyze response times, throughput, error rates, resource utilization, and system trends
- Identify performance risks, degradation patterns, and optimization opportunities
### Reporting, Insights & Recommendations
- Prepare or contribute to performance test reports, dashboards, and execution summaries
- Clearly communicate test outcomes, risks, and observations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide performance optimization, tuning, and risk-mitigation recommendations based on findings
### Collaboration & Stakeholder Interaction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including:
- Functional and automation testing teams
- Developers and solution architects
- SAP BASIS teams
- Infrastructure and platform teams
- Business and client stakeholders
- Participate in discussions related to performance readiness, release decisions, and go-live approvals
### Release, Delivery & Continuous Performance Validation
- Support performance testing across multiple test cycles, releases, and go-live events
- Contribute to or assist with CI/CD-based performance testing integration, where applicable
- Support post-go-live validation, production performance monitoring, and stability checks
### Delivery Management & Problem Solving
- Handle responsibilities across one or more projects simultaneously, ensuring effective prioritization and delivery
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve performance issues
- Demonstrate structured execution, accountability, and attention to detail
### Communication & Documentation
- Communicate effectively through clear documentation, test reports, dashboards, presentations, and discussions
- Tailor communication based on the audience (engineering teams, leadership, or business users)
- Clearly articulate performance risks, findings, and recommendations
## Technical Skills – Must Have
Candidates must demonstrate strong hands-on experience in the following areas:
- Micro Focus LoadRunner, including VuGen, Controller, and Analysis
- Web / HTTP / HTML protocols
- TruClient scripting and execution
- API performance testing for REST/HTTP-based services
- Hands-on experience executing load tests and analyzing results as part of the performance testing lifecycle
## Technical Skills – Good to Have
The following skills are desirable and will positively contribute to candidate scoring:
- Experience with Tricentis NeoLoad
- Exposure to additional protocols, including SAP GUI, NeoLoad Real Browser, and Citrix protocols (LoadRunner or NeoLoad)
- Performance testing experience on:
- SAP ECC / SAP GUI applications
- SAP FIORI applications
- Power BI dashboards
- Microsoft Power Apps
- Citrix-hosted applications
- Exposure to APM and monitoring tools, such as AppDynamics or Dynatrace
- Familiarity with Azure Application Insights and Azure DevOps (ADO) for pipelines, test integration, reporting, and work item tracking
- Experience in cloud-hosted or hybrid environments
- Understanding of CI/CD-driven performance testing approaches
- Exposure to production performance monitoring and post-go-live validation
