Senior Python Engineer (UK)

## About the role We are seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally independent Backend Engineer to drive the design, architecture, and scale of our core platform. You will work across our backend stack—databases, APIs, data intensive processes, and cloud infrastructure. Authentise is an engineer-led design organisation where full ownership is the expectation. We do not 'spoon feed' tickets, we expect everyone to have the skills and desire to contribute to, if not lead, feature and platform design projects. You'll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and leadership to iteratively design and focus new features and performance improvements, prior to implementation. We take platform ownership seriously, and first and foremost the platform is owned by those who build it. ## What You'll Do - Architect and develop data intensive services - Lead system architecture and technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy - Write a high volume of robust, high-quality code - Participate in rigorous code reviews and enforce best practices. - Work with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) - Optimize application performance and reliability - Integrate with manufacturing systems, data pipelines, and external tools ## Qualifications ### Required: - Minimum 3+ years of experience in backend development - Non-negotiable: Demonstrable design experience in software development - Proven track record of delivering high volumes of production-ready, high-quality code. - Experience building RESTful APIs or GraphQL services - Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps workflows - Solid understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) - Ability to thrive in high autonomy, fast-paced startup environment ### Nice to Have: - Experience in manufacturing, CAD/CAM, or additive manufacturing - Experience with real-time data systems or IoT integrations - Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) - Startup or early-stage company experience ## Why Join Us - Build impactful technology in a rapidly growing industry - High ownership and influence on product direction - Work with a passionate, collaborative team - Competitive salary + equity options - Flexible work environment ## Diversity and Inclusion at Authentise We believe diversity makes us better—period.
