## About the role
Yika is building a sustainable fashion rental marketplace focused on accessibility, community, and reducing fashion waste. We're creating a platform that makes renting and sharing fashion seamless, trustworthy, and approachable — especially for users who are new to fashion rentals.
Our goal is to make fashion more circular while empowering individuals to monetize and share pieces already in their closets.
We're currently completing development of MVP 1 and preparing for launch. As we transition into our next phase of growth, we're looking for a Front-End Developer to join the founding team and lead the continued evolution of the platform.
We're looking for a highly motivated Front-End Developer to take ownership of Yika's front-end development following the completion of MVP 1.
Our current founding front-end developer will complete the development and testing of MVP 1, including:
- Landing page
- Homepage
- Product details pages
- Shopper dashboard
- Merchant dashboard
- Core platform testing and bug fixes
There will be a structured handover period to ensure a smooth transition, knowledge transfer, and onboarding into the codebase and development workflow.
After the handover, you will become Yika's primary front-end developer, leading continued platform development as we move into MVP 2 and beyond. This includes building new features based on user feedback, improving the user experience, and helping shape the technical direction of the product as we scale.
This is a high-impact, founding-level role with significant ownership and influence over the future of the platform.
## What You'll Work On
MVP 2 & Future Development
Potential upcoming features include:
- Admin dashboard
- Improved analytics and reporting tools
- Enhanced messaging and communication features
- User verification and trust/safety improvements
- Additional merchant and shopper functionality
- Performance optimization and UX improvements
- New features informed by real user feedback after launch
## Responsibilities
- Take ownership of Yika's front-end development after MVP 1 handover
- Build, maintain, and scale user-facing features across the platform
- Translate Figma designs into clean, responsive, production-ready code
- Collaborate closely with founders, product/design, and backend developers
- Integrate APIs and ensure smooth functionality across the platform
- Improve platform usability, responsiveness, accessibility, and performance
- Debug, test, and optimize front-end functionality
- Help define front-end architecture and development best practices
- Participate in product planning and prioritization discussions
## What We're Looking For
- Experience building modern web applications
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React or Next.js
- Experience working with APIs and backend integrations
- Ability to build responsive, intuitive user interfaces
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- Excitement about building from the ground up and shaping product direction
## Nice to Have
- Experience building dashboards, marketplaces, or e-commerce platforms
- Familiarity with component libraries/design systems
- Experience optimizing front-end performance
- Understanding of accessibility best practices
- Interest in sustainability, circular fashion, or community-driven products
- Previous startup or founding team experience
## Compensation
This is currently an equity-based founding team role.
We're looking for someone excited about building an impactful early-stage startup and growing with the company long term. As Yika scales, this role has strong potential to evolve into a Lead Front-End Engineer position.
## Why Join Yika?
- Founding-level ownership and influence
- Opportunity to shape the core user experience of the platform
- Direct impact on a mission-driven product focused on sustainability
- Collaborative and creative startup environment
- Opportunity to help define the future of fashion resale and rentals

- Any experience working on marketplaces, dashboards, or startup products
We'd love to hear what excites you about building Yika with us.
