Responsibilities
Define and design the target architecture of the Renovate solution; Design a scalable operating model for tens of thousands of repositories; Architect self-hosted Renovate, distributed workers, job scheduling, and caching; Design solutions for GitLab API and external registry rate-limit handling; Develop automated repository discovery and onboarding; Define and maintain central, version-controlled Renovate configurations; Establish update strategies, grouping rules, and auto-merge policies; Ensure security and compliance including secure credential management; Define prioritization of security-relevant and CVE-driven updates; Establish monitoring, logging, and operational KPIs; Plan and coordinate the rollout from pilot to full coverage; Own project planning, roadmap, and rollout management; Coordinate stakeholders across platform operations, security, and development teams; Perform technical reviews and make key architectural decisions; Coach and support engineers; Contribute to documentation and developer enablement; Work hands-on on prototypes and critical technical implementation questions.
