Founding Engineer (Product-Minded)

## About the role You'll be the founding engineering partner working directly with the founder. This is a product role as much as it is an engineering role. You'll help decide what we build, why we build it, and ship it with quality. ## What you'll own - Ship core product features across mobile + backend - Make the experience fast, reliable, and delightful for tired parents at bedtime - Build scalable systems for story generation, narration, storage, and subscriptions - Improve observability, performance, and cost efficiency as we scale - Set engineering standards: codebase health, release process, incident response ## Our stack (already in motion) - React + TypeScript + Capacitor - Node/Express - Postgres (Neon) - Supabase storage - RevenueCat - OpenAI - plus a robust multi-provider TTS fallback chain ## You might be a fit if you - Have 5 to 10+ years building and shipping real products - Care about UX and can argue for the simplest thing that works - Can own ambiguity and turn it into a shippable plan - Have experience with TypeScript, web APIs, databases, and mobile delivery (native or hybrid) - Are excited by AI products, but obsessed with trust, safety, and reliability ## Bonus points - Consumer subscriptions experience (RevenueCat, App Store/Play Store) - Background jobs, queues, rate limiting, and cost control - Shipping on iOS/Android, push, auth, audio, and edge-case chaos ## What you get - Meaningful equity in a vision-led business - Founder-level ownership and autonomy - A product with clear emotional value and strong organic demand - A fast feedback loop from real families ## Our Story Magic creates personalised bedtime stories that help kids feel seen, process big feelings, and grow through story.
