## About Us
We are on a mission to give patients the care they deserve by making it easy to navigate the healthcare system. Aviator aims to become the entry point into the healthcare system for every family. We are building a care coordination system driven by human healthcare experts and AI to help every patient access the necessary care to live a longer, healthier life. We're backed by leading investors including Chemistry + founders and executives from Doordash, Assort Health, Tennr, Nourish, OpenAI, Applied Compute, Medallion, Formation Bio, and more.
## About the Role
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll build end-to-end product experiences across Aviator's patient-facing app and internal AviatorOS, shipping everything from polished UIs to scalable APIs and integrations that power real care coordination. You'll also help productionize our agentic and automation layer by building tool-using agents, workflow orchestration, evals, and safe human-in-the-loop controls so AI can reliably handle high-stakes operational work. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup, loves turning messy real-world workflows into simple software, and ships quickly without compromising reliability.
This role is in person in New York City, 5 days / week.
In this role, you will:
- Work across the stack to create seamless, intuitive user experiences backed by robust systems.
- Prototype, test, and iterate quickly on new product ideas and workflows.
- Collaborate with product, clinical, and operations teams to translate real-world needs into elegant technical solutions.
- Build scalable backend services and APIs that integrate with EHRs, licensing systems, insurance platforms, and internal tools.
- Help define, scope, and review key projects; prioritize roadmap objectives; and sequence our deliverables.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering best practices as the company grows.
- Implement monitoring, testing, and quality assurance to ensure consistent, reliable performance.
## Technical skills
- 3+ years of full-stack experience with a strength in backend systems (Python/TypeScript, Postgres, APIs/SDKs) and are comfortable jumping to frontend when needed.
- A strong product sense and design intuition - you care about usability, polish, and user delight, not just functionality.
- Familiarity with agent frameworks, automation tools, and AI-driven systems.
- Deep comfort building with AI tools, including structured outputs, tool calling, retrieval patterns, and handling uncertainty safely.
## You're a good fit if you…
- Have high agency: you can set direction, make judgment calls, and drive projects forward without waiting for perfect clarity.
- Have a strong sense of ownership and bias toward action.
- Have shipped 0→1 products in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Can drive projects independently, with high accountability without much outside input.
- Communicate clearly in writing: PR descriptions, docs, and Slack updates keep the team aligned.
