Configuration Specialist
Overview:
SOSi is currently seeking an experienced Configuration Specialist in Ramstein AB, Germany, in support of our government customer.
Essential Job Duties:
• Provide configuration management of all managed networks and systems.
• Implement and maintain a configuration management program that encompasses documented change control procedures and practices for both hardware and software on all supported networks/systems.
• Support the Change Control Board (CCB), record and post CCB meeting minutes.
• Provide software licensing management for all assigned systems and networks.
• Maintain license, warranty, and support services data for hardware and software.
• Document current revision level of all key components, maintain documentation on the configuration of all environments under configuration control to include architecture diagrams.
• Document all changes to the configuration of supported environments.
• Analyze and evaluate engineering change proposals and software requests to determine network and system, impacts prior to baseline implementation.
• Ensure configuration identification by reviewing design release documents for completeness, proper authorizations, and system updates.
• Implement, update, and maintain enterprise level configuration management products and systems.
• Analyze the current enterprise configuration management implementation and provide status reports before and after remediation actions are engineered and executed.
• Provide weekly activity reports describing activities accomplished.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists, including leading detailed technical discussions and developing/presenting required briefing materials.
• Perform various audits, design reviews, and document results.
• Ensure the application of military standards and requirements for the statement of work are properly implemented.
• Develop configuration and data management documentation based on program requirements and implement new processes as needed.
• Establish and govern structured document repositories, ensuring quality control and precise version tracking for all project artifacts, system baselines, and the Approved Products List (APL).
• Control access to configuration management products, maintain records of their status, and ensure safe and secure storage to protect against damage and unauthorized access.
• Select and package various components that comprise the final working product.
• Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members, may have supervisory responsibilities, and may serve as technical team or task leader.
Minimum Requirements:
• Must possess an Active in-scope secret clearance.
• Education: BA/BS in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics, or business/finance.
• This position requires five (5) years of intensive and specialized experience.
• Education and experience requirements may be substituted with:
• A master’s degree (in subjects described above) and three (3) years’ experience of which two (2) must be specialized.
• No Degree and 13 years’ experience of which five (5) must be specialized.
• Must receive TESA approval from the German government.
• Detailed understanding of ITIL change, configuration, and release management processes of ITIL v4/v5 change, configuration, and release management processes, with a proven ability to apply ITSM principles to optimize and streamline administrative workflows.
• Experience with IT project management and O&M coordination.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to extract, understand, and document system specifications and designs from network engineers and system administrators.
• ITIL / ITSM / CMMI experience.
• Experience using an enterprise ticketing system to coordinate and schedule activities (e.g., Remedy, ServiceNow, Ivanti).
• Experience understanding SCCM capabilities, validating deployment plans, and ensuring regular deployment schedules.
• Knowledgeable in multiple current technology areas, including client and server computer hardware and operating systems, end-user desktop software, remote management, IAVA process, and end-user device security management and patching.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
• Developed problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Preferred:
• ITIL v4 or v5 Foundations
• DoD 8570 IAT level II compliant (e.g., CompTIA Security+ certification)
Work Environment:
• Normal office conditions with potential to perform duties in deployed locations.
• May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs.
• Housing allowance (HOLA) and cost of living allowance (COLA) will be added to base salary.
