Senior Front-End Engineer
Rewrite
## About the Role
The Senior Front-End Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for front-end architecture, design system collaboration, and UI quality across high-impact digital products. This role leads a small team of front-end developers while remaining deeply involved in coding and technical decision-making.
While front-end is your primary focus, you're comfortable working across the stack when needed—whether that's integrating APIs, understanding database constraints, or debugging backend issues that impact the UI.
## Responsibilities
### Build Production-Grade Applications
- Develop modern, responsive web applications using React, Angular, TypeScript, or other modern front-end tooling e.g. Next.js
- Adapt to client-specific frameworks, design systems, and technical constraints—every client environment is different, our senior engineers thrive helping shape custom platforms, tooling, and standards
- Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, production-ready interfaces with obsessive attention to detail
- Build reusable component libraries and design systems that scale across products and teams
- Optimize for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility—ensuring every interface works flawlessly for all users
- Write clean, maintainable code that other engineers can understand and extend
### Leverage AI-Assisted Development
- Use AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and increase code quality
- Rapidly prototype features and proof-of-concepts that demonstrate technical feasibility to clients
- Experiment with new AI-assisted workflows and share learnings with the team
### Collaborate & Elevate
- Work closely with designers to ensure feasibility and push for the best possible user experience
- Partner with product managers to scope work, identify technical risks, and provide accurate estimates
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance
- Contribute to engineering standards and best practices that improve quality and velocity across all projects
- Participate in technical discussions around architecture, tooling, and approach
### Deliver for Clients
- Take ownership of features and deliverables from concept through production deployment
- Communicate progress and technical tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Adapt to different client environments, codebases, and constraints—every engagement is different
- Maintain professionalism and quality even under tight deadlines or shifting requirements
## Requirements
### Technical Skills
- 7+ years of professional front-end development experience building complex web applications
- Expert-level proficiency in React and the modern JavaScript ecosystem (TypeScript, Next.js, state management, hooks, etc.)
- Strong experience with HTML, CSS, and responsive design—you understand the fundamentals deeply, not just the frameworks
- Experience with Angular or strong willingness to learn it quickly—one of our key clients has invested heavily in Angular, including a custom platform and design system you'll work within
- Adaptability across frameworks—you've worked in multiple front-end ecosystems and can context-switch effectively
- Experience building component libraries and design systems from scratch or contributing to existing ones
- Understanding of web performance optimization—code splitting, lazy loading, bundle size, lighthouse scores
- Commitment to accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
- Full-stack awareness—you've worked with APIs, understand backend constraints, and can debug across layers (bonus if you've written Node.js, Python, or similar)
- Comfort with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude, Copilot)—or eagerness to master them quickly
### Experience & Mindset
- Proven ability to deliver production applications on time and with high quality
- Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where requirements evolve and priorities shift
- Strong problem-solving skills—you can debug complex issues, propose solutions, and make pragmatic tradeoffs
- Attention to detail without perfectionism—you know when "good enough" is the right call and when to push for excellence
- Professional services experience is a plus—you understand what it means to work with external clients
- Mentorship or leadership experience—you've helped other engineers grow, whether formally or informally
### Communication & Collaboration
- Clear communicator who can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborative team player who values feedback and seeks out diverse perspectives
- Proactive and self-directed—you don't wait to be told what to do; you identify problems and solve them
- Comfortable with feedback and iteration—both giving and receiving code reviews constructively
## What We Offer
- Competitive compensation with performance bonus upside
- Healthcare benefits and 401(k)
- High ownership and influence over technical direction
- Hybrid delivery flexibility with client travel and team co-locations
