Backend Engineer

## About the role We are hiring a Backend Engineer to join our engineering team in Bangalore. In this role, you will focus on building and maintaining backend systems, APIs, partner integrations, and internal services that enable our kiosks, booking journeys, payment flows, and operational dashboards. You will work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to deliver new features, improve reliability, strengthen third-party integrations, and support rapid growth across global markets. ## Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and microservices using Java (Spring Boot preferred). - Develop and improve integrations with third-party systems including payment gateways, transport aggregators, telecom providers, and operations partners. - Implement reliable data flows, caching layers, background jobs, and system automation. - Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following engineering best practices. - Collaborate with the Product Manager to translate business requirements into technical specifications. - Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across backend systems with support from senior engineers. - Work with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) including schema design, queries, and optimizations. - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and performance improvements. - Support monitoring, alerting, and logging to ensure system stability and uptime. ## Who You Are ### Required - 1–2 years of professional backend engineering experience. - Strong programming skills in Java; experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks. - Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed system fundamentals. - Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and SQL. - Experience working with Git, CI/CD workflows, and modern build processes. - Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. ### Preferred - Experience building production-ready services in Spring Boot. - Exposure to third-party integrations (payments, transport, telecom). - Understanding of asynchronous processing, queues, caching, or event-driven architecture. - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). - Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK. ## Why Join Us - Build systems that directly impact millions of travellers across airports and hotels globally. - Work across backend, frontend, and desktop applications—gaining broad full stack experience. - Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams across India and the UK. - Fast-moving environment with clear ownership, learning opportunities, and career growth. - Competitive salary and the opportunity to shape real-world, high-scale products. ## Job Type Full-time ## Benefits - Flexible schedule - Paid sick time - Paid time off - Provident Fund - Work from home ## Location Bangalore, Karnataka (Preferred) Work Location: Remote
