Machine Learning Engineer

## About the Role We're hiring an Applied Machine Learning Engineer to help build the intelligence layer behind our platform, with a particular focus on a new product initiative. This is a high-impact role where you'll operate as a founding engineer on a new area of the product, working closely with customers to understand real-world problems and turning them into scalable ML systems. You'll be involved end to end, from shaping ideas and experimenting with models through to building production-ready systems that deliver value for enterprise users. This role is well suited to someone with 1 to 5 years of experience who combines strong technical fundamentals with an engineering mindset and enjoys building things from scratch in a fast-paced environment. ## Responsibilities - Design, build, and deploy machine learning systems across ingestion, extraction, classification, clustering, and evaluation - Work directly with pilot customers to understand messy, unstructured data problems and translate them into practical solutions - Experiment with modern ML approaches including transformer models and NLP techniques - Take models from experimentation through to production-ready systems - Build and maintain data pipelines to ingest, clean, and structure data from documents, APIs, and other sources - Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams to ensure solutions are both technically robust and useful - Help shape how ML is developed, deployed, and scaled within Tracera as the product grows ## Requirements - Strong foundation in machine learning, computer science, or a related field - 1 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Python and modern ML tooling - Solid understanding of ML concepts including training, evaluation, and iteration - Strong engineering mindset with a focus on building real systems, not just experimentation - Comfortable working with messy, unstructured real-world data - Ability to think through scalability, reliability, and production considerations - Curious, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment - Strong communication skills and interest in working closely with customers ## Nice to Have - Experience with transformer models, NLP, or frameworks such as Hugging Face - Experience building or deploying production ML systems - Exposure to data pipelines, APIs, or cloud infrastructure - Familiarity with sustainability, ESG, or supply chain domains ## What Success Looks Like You build machine learning systems that successfully turn complex, unstructured data into reliable and useful outputs for customers.
