Founding Engineer (Equity-Only)

## About the role WeLeap is a mission-driven fintech startup reimagining how Gen Z and Millennials manage money. We're building an AI-powered financial sidekick that acts in the user's best interest — helping them allocate income, reduce debt, and discover smarter financial products through a personalized, action-first experience. We're part of the SkyDeck Pad13 incubator and are assembling a small team of builders who want to reshape the financial system from the ground up. If you're passionate about empowering people with tools that actually work (not just track), and want to build the future of financial well-being, come join us. ## Responsibilities - Help architect and build our AI-native financial engine and marketplace infrastructure - Work closely with founders on product development and technical strategy - Lead development on core components including LLM integrations, Firebase backend, financial automation, and secure execution environments - Establish foundational engineering practices and culture for the early team - Ship fast, test intelligently, and iterate based on real usage ## Requirements - An entrepreneurial self-starter, comfortable diving into technical problems even when they're outside your comfort zone - A full-stack engineer with experience building real products from scratch - Proficient with TypeScript, Firebase, Node.js, and AI APIs like OpenAI and Gemini, with hands-on experience building AI-powered products or working with large language models - Experienced in setting up and managing production environments, deployment pipelines, and devops workflows - Passionate about creating meaningful tools in fintech and AI - Comfortable working independently, collaboratively, and with high ambiguity; you thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment aligned with lean startup principles and are always eager to learn - Excited by the opportunity to earn meaningful equity and help shape a company from day one ## Nice to have - Experience with financial data (Plaid, Stripe, etc.), investment automation, or decentralized tech ## What we offer - Build something ambitious with a lean and driven team - Define the architecture, tools, and culture from the beginning - Flexible structure with long-term ownership and impact - Work remotely, on your own time, and with a high degree of autonomy - This is a unique opportunity structured for entrepreneurial engineers ready to dive into an early-stage venture.
