Everyone works with ownership and a shared upside through phantom shares until our next funding round. ## The Role We are looking for a Senior Staff / Principal Engineer who can think in systems, design foundations, and build end-to-end experiences. This is a founding-level IC role: you won't just contribute to the product, you will shape it. Technical stack: NextJS, Angular & PostgreSQL This is a role for someone who wants autonomy, responsibility, and long-term impact. ## What You Will Lead - Design and evolve Marv's core system architecture - Build and maintain scalable APIs and backend services - Develop and optimise Angular and React applications - Shape data models, database structures, and data flows - Set engineering patterns, coding standards, and long-term practices - Own features end-to-end, from concept to deployment - Collaborate with product, branding, and other teams - Ensure performance, reliability, security, and maintainability - Support the engineering culture, mentoring and guiding when needed ## What We're Looking For ### Required - 7+ years of experience in software engineering - Experience operating at Staff, Senior Staff, Principal, or equivalent level - Strong full-stack skills across: - NextJS 14+ - Angular 18+ - PostgreSQL - TypeScript - Strong architectural thinking - Proven experience building scalable systems from scratch - Comfortable taking full ownership and working autonomously - Ability to operate in a fast-moving, remote-first startup - Clear communication and a responsible, accountable mindset ### Bonus - Experience in startups, side projects and open source is huge plus - Experience building platforms or matching systems - Experience defining engineering standards in early-stage startups ## The Right Fit You're ideal for this role if you're: - A Principal Engineer seeking real ownership - A Staff Engineer ready to design new architecture, not maintain old systems - An IC who wants impact, influence, and long-term upside - Someone frustrated by corporate complexity and looking for a clean slate - Someone who understands responsibility is a form of freedom ## Compensation This is a phantom share–only role until funding.
