## About the Role We're looking for a Mid-Level/Senior Full-Stack Developer (m/f/x) with a strong backend focus to join our core remote engineering team with a part of the team in Munich. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll have significant ownership over our technical architecture. You are working directly with our CTO and our engineering team to shape the future of BauGPT and our construction technology platform. As a team member in our venture-funded startup, you'll wear multiple hats - from architecting scalable backend systems to diving into frontend features, refining CI/CD pipelines, and making critical technical decisions that will impact our product for years to come. ## What You'll Do - Core Responsibilities - Own our backend architecture - Design and implement scalable REST APIs that can handle our growing user base of construction professionals and services - Drive BauGPT development - Enhance our AI-powered construction assistant that helps with building regulations, technical standards, and construction physics - Build AI infrastructure - Centralize and optimize our AI integrations (OpenAI, LangChain) for maximum efficiency - Full-stack development - Jump between backend services, database optimizations, and React frontend features as needed - DevOps & Infrastructure - Maintain and improve our AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies ## Day-to-Day Impact - Implement robust database migration strategies that don't break production - Debug complex issues across our distributed systems serving thousands of construction professionals - Collaborate with the team to ship features in weekly sprints - Write clean, tested code that others can understand and build upon - Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance speed with sustainability ## What We're Looking For - Must-Haves - 5+ years of backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, PHP, and REST APIs - Strong database skills - PostgreSQL, TypeORM/Prisma, and experience with complex migrations - Production experience with Docker, AWS, and distributed systems - Startup mindset - You know when to build a rocket ship vs. a raft to cross the river - Problem-solving approach - You dig deep to understand issues and propose practical solutions - Excellent communication - You can explain complex technical concepts clearly ## The Ideal Candidate You're a pragmatic engineer who understands the unique challenges of venture-backed startups in specialized industries.
