Operating as both a research lab and a product company, we build cutting-edge retrieval systems and AI-driven workflow automation for knowledge-intensive financial tasks. ## About the role We're hiring a senior backend engineer to design and build the systems that power Bynd's AI-native financial intelligence platform. You'll work closely with the founding team, product, and AI engineers to shape how financial data is processed, secured, and delivered to enterprise users. You'll influence key technical decisions, own critical infrastructure, and help set the standard for engineering excellence at Bynd. ## Responsibilities - Architect, build, and scale backend systems to support AI-driven financial workflows - Design APIs and data pipelines that meet enterprise-grade standards for performance, security, and reliability - Lead infrastructure decisions across data modeling, auth, deployments, and observability - Collaborate with AI and product teams to ship features that are robust, fast, and easy to maintain - Contribute to a strong engineering culture by upholding clean design, code quality, and knowledge sharing - Stay up to date with backend, cloud, and security best practices as we grow ## Qualifications ### Must-haves - 3+ years of backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., NestJS) - Experience designing and implementing REST APIs - Experience with Redis, microservices, or event-driven systems - Strong grasp of relational and NoSQL databases, especially PostgreSQL and MongoDB - Familiarity with authentication and authorization systems (JWT, OAuth2, SSO) - Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments - Solid testing discipline (e.g., Jest, SuperTest) and version control practices (Git) - Strong communication skills and a bias toward ownership and clarity ### Preferred - Proven ability to build products from scratch (0 to 1 experience). - Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI, Clean Architecture, CQRS, or DDD - Prior exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP in production - Understanding of performance and cost tradeoffs in distributed systems - Interest in or experience with LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems ## What we're looking for We need someone with exceptional autonomy, curiosity, and drive.
