## About the Role
Join me, another Rust engineer, as Positron builds PrizeForge. We are open sourcing supply & demand, starting with consumer & B2B open source software.
We have clear plans to scale our solution up beyond software, to multiple hundreds of billions USD in revenue. We will power all sorts of open technology development that needs to happen but cannot happen today due to an inability to connect demand for downstream value creation to upstream enabling technologies.
Check out our prototype Elastic Fund Matching solution. Our company site has more thorough and updated listings.
This is a very early stage position. We are rugged, lean, and powered by determination. An appetite for risk, ambition, and working on new things are necessary and will pay off.
## Skills Needed
The platform is full stack Rust. We're using Rust, Leptos, NATS, Postgres, hosted on GKE.
The work that needs to be done is similar to social media and marketplace platforms. Summarization, recognition, and translation will be increasingly beneficial to these platforms, and we will be utilizing emerging heuristics in our solutions.
## Experience Required
Because our platform involves some new ideas, extremely talented fresh graduates with considerable project work can work out well. We have limited time to train. We can only hire about one junior worker per experienced worker, and expect to be delegated work that is repetetive to save seniors time. You will gain experience fast. By becoming an expert at our toolchain, your limited experience will deliver more value to us and allow us to promote quickly if you are relatively successful.
## Culture
This is an international-first company that happens to be located in South Korea. It's better if you can speak Korean, but not a requirement. Most engineers speak decent English. Operations and other administrative roles are more likely to resemble normal Korean companies, but product and engineering will be 100% skills-driven.
한국어로 괜찮습니다. 저희는 글로벌 우선 문화를 만들어내게겠습니다.
As a startup, we have the freedom to go our own way and create a place we want to work at. Some Korean culture will find a place, but less popular aspects will be allowed to disappear.
Company retreats will likely include snowboarding in Hokkaido and at Phoenix Park. Company dinners will perhaps be less professional, as is standard in Korea, but not required. Absolutely no mandatory "team-building" hiking ☻
## Location
Our location is somewhat flexible. I'm willing to work with people anywhere Japan and South Korea. Currently I'm in Busan but may relocate to Seoul at any time. USA and Europe will eventually be in the picture, but let's try to stay in one timezone for now.
## Employment Options
Now that our prototype is live, it won't be long before we can offer regular salaried positions. Co-founder positions are available for extremely motivated people who are a good fit for the early stage of a company and who are fully capable and motivated to continue the company even in my absense. If wouldn't want to found Positron and build PrizeForge from nothing, you cannot fo-found Positron and help take it to the next level.
Co-founder positions are higher risk, mostly compensated through equity until we raise capital or grow enough revenue, but you can start immediately and have much higher potential reward. Previous experience with early stage and familiarity with startup management and bootstrapping very imature products are beneficial.
If your compensation preference is salary, the employee relationship is best. Employee positions receive stock options, which have somewhat worse rights in the preference stack in adverse scenarios such as "pay-to-play" down rounds. We can only hire full-salaried employees in limited circumstances, so prepare to wait.
The equity arrangement will be completely standard, four-year vesting with a one-year cliff. I and other co-founders must maintain tight incentive alignment at all times. Performance will be rewarded. People who add value to the company will be treated right to uphold our value proposition for doing good work.
