Responsibilities
Own the provisioning, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of PostgreSQL and MySQL instances across AWS RDS and on-premises; Design and implement automated failover solutions, load balancing configurations, and DNS management strategies; Write and maintain Terraform code to provision and manage database infrastructure; Build and manage Ansible playbooks and roles for database deployments, configuration changes, and patching cycles; Monitor, alert, and tune using Prometheus and Grafana; Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations; Manage backup, restore, and recovery processes; Harden database security through access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, and periodic audits; Maintain and improve underlying Linux systems hosting the databases; Document configurations, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans; participate in on-call rotation.
