Senior Back-End Engineer

## About the role MiraDx is a biotechnology research company currently focused on personalized cancer therapies. We're looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer to join our software engineering team. As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining our web application. It's currently a full-stack Javascript application (React, Typescript, Next.js), though we plan to move off Next.js in the coming months. You will collaborate regularly with other teams to design and implement back-end solutions that are flexible, performant, and intuitive. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering. ## Schedule The engineering team is fully remote, and you will need to have at least 5 hours overlap with 8AM-5PM Pacific Time. There are two mandatory, teamwide meetings on Wednesday from 10AM-1PM Pacific Time. ## Responsibilities - Architect, develop, and maintain the back-end of our web application following best practices and coding standards - Collaborate with other team members, including Design, Client Services, Internal Lab Technicians, and Front-End Engineering - Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers - Debug and troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolutions - Actively lead and/or contribute to back-end technical discussions ## Qualifications - Minimum 8 years experience in back-end web development - Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, especially as it relates to database design, API design, and workflow automation - Strong understanding of software development best practices such as version control, code reviews, and automated testing - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment ## Nice to Haves - Experience in healthcare or other industries requiring regulatory compliance - Experience with TypeScript - Experience with Azure ## Important Traits - Kindness - egos don't have a place in our meetings 😊 - Accountability - a high-trust environment means being able to own up to, debug, and resolve any issues that may happen - Communication - there's a wide mix of scientific / medical / engineering knowledge on the team so being able to distill information in a way anyone can understand is important ## Notes We're looking for a full-time employee, but this will begin as a 6-week contract-to-hire position.
