Founding Engineer

## About the role As our Founding Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping our technology stack, engineering culture, and product architecture. This role requires a highly capable backend engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited about wearing multiple hats—ranging from writing code to managing the tech team and even attracting talent. ## Responsibilities - Own and build resilient, high-performance backend servers and APIs, ensuring scalability and fault tolerance (not necessarily microservices). - Work with large tick-by-tick datasets to power our platform, requiring strong architectural decisions and optimizations. - Design and optimize both SQL and NoSQL databases, implementing effective caching strategies for performance. - Take full ownership of projects with minimal oversight—driving technical decisions and delivering impact quickly. - Collaborate across functions, working closely with product, frontend, and devops while also engaging with customers when needed. - Set the bar for future engineers, defining best practices and contributing to the company's engineering culture. ## Requirements - Proven experience in backend development, building clean, high-performance, and resilient systems. - Strong proficiency in Go, C++, or Rust for backend development. - Deep experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure, and deployment strategies. - Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, with the ability to solve complex technical problems efficiently. - Quick learner who thrives in an unstructured, high-ownership environment and is comfortable switching between different roles as needed. - Passion for startups and entrepreneurship—consider this opportunity strongly if you aspire to be a founder yourself in the future. ## About the company At Nexera, we are building a natural language powered research platform for professional traders to find answers to their questions, backtest and automate their strategies.
