Data Insights Engineer

## About the role We use social analytics and machine learning to help suppliers in the alcohol industry optimize sales. We have a lot of very complex data (billions-scale), a robust platform, and a SaaS product for analysts. Externally, we are a fairly private company. Internally, we have a high-capability, low-ego team of 20+ great people and a culture built on hard work and succeeding together. We are fully remote and hire across the US. We get together in-person a few times a year. Our company is a great fit for growth-oriented people who can work largely independently but know how to raise their hand when needed. We are seeking a dynamic Data Insights Engineer to join our Data Team who possesses exceptional communication skills and a strong business-oriented mindset. As a member of the Ground Signal team, you will leverage your technical expertise and deliver valuable insights that drive business decisions. The ideal candidate is both detail-oriented and strategic, capable of grasping the broader business implications of the data they analyze. ## Responsibilities - Utilize your technical prowess to work closely with our databases, extracting and manipulating data for insightful analysis. - Exhibit meticulous attention to detail while also grasping the broader business context, ensuring data-driven decisions align with strategic objectives. - Translate business requirements into effective data queries and analysis. - Apply analytical thinking to go beyond initial technical requests, proposing comprehensive solutions and recognizing the potential business impact of derived insights. - Demonstrate a proactive approach in problem-solving, identifying alternative solutions when initial approaches fall short of desired outcomes. - Empathize with clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring that insights and solutions presented are robust, client-friendly, and aligned with their needs. - Showcase a balance of technical engineering skills and client-centric solution mentality. - Strive for continuous improvement, actively seeking out process efficiencies and documenting procedures for future reference. - Proficiency in working with databases and conducting data analysis using relevant tools. ## Requirements - Great communication skills with a "customer service" mentality - Detail-oriented and not afraid of digging through large data sets - Scrappy with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude - Able to take the lead on something but not afraid to ask for help - Has enough technical ability to work with python, databases, and interact with large data sets - Has 2 or more years of experience, preferably with working with datasets and databases ## What we offer The portions of our current stack you will be working with includes: - Python - Jupyter Notebooks - PostgreSQL, ClickHouse If you are interested and think this may be a fit for you, please reach out!
