You'll work closely with our customers, product team, and 3D team to design and maintain reliable backend systems that support our 3D production workflows and internal artist tools. ## Responsibilities - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy backend services that meet customer and internal workflow needs. - Build and maintain robust APIs (REST and internal services) that power our web application and artist tools. - Write clean, modular, and maintainable backend code using NodeJS and Express (and Python where appropriate). - Manage and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure and services (e.g. EC2, S3, RDS), applying security, reliability, and cost-efficiency best practices. - Design, implement, and tune MySQL schemas and queries to ensure efficient, reliable data storage and retrieval. - Conduct unit and integration testing (e.g. Jest, Cypress for API flows) to ensure backend stability and correctness. - Work independently to drive projects from idea to production, including scoping, implementation, and iteration. - Partner with frontend engineers and other stakeholders to define API contracts and data flows. - Stay up-to-date with emerging backend technologies, infrastructure tools, and best practices in distributed systems and web services. ## Qualifications - Strong experience building backend services in NodeJS and Express (or similar frameworks). - Solid experience with Python for backend systems, scripting, or data/ML integration. - Strong knowledge of MySQL (or similar relational databases) and sound database design principles. - Experience with automated testing for backend systems (unit, integration, and/or end-to-end tests). - Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and working with modern web application architectures. - Practical experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, S3, RDS) or another major cloud provider for deploying and operating backend services. - Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across backend services, data flows, and infrastructure. - Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. ## Nice to haves - Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker) and basic orchestration for deployment and scaling. - Familiarity with observability tooling (metrics, traces, logs) to monitor and improve system performance. - Exposure to WebGL / three.js or 3D-related workflows, or experience integrating backend services with 3D or graphics-heavy applications. - Experience with 3D modelling or 3D content pipelines is a big plus.
