## About the role AdeptID is a social-impact venture (and B-corp) using machine learning to identify hidden talent in the workforce. We match talent to jobs and training on the basis of underlying skills and real employment data - and we are specifically focused on jobs that don't require college degrees. We're working with leading employers and training providers to help them find untapped pools of talent and our API product makes it easy for anyone building a talent or workforce application to bring our inclusive form of matching into their system. We've been recognized as one of the world's top learning and workforce startups to watch. Our results are promising and our agenda is increasingly clear, but we need more hands on deck to make sure our models live up to their potential. As a Research Data Scientist, you will: - Work closely with the Chief Data Scientist to improve existing models and develop new models describing how individuals move through the economy - Manage and run experiments with a mix of public and private data sources - Produce rigorous documentation of findings, including white papers and/or peer-reviewed publications as appropriate - Form new, adjacent research questions and train models to address them ## Our ideal candidate A track record of novel research using machine learning techniques to answer scientific questions. We're particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following research areas: - Algorithmic Bias - Labor Economics - Workforce Development - Fluent with machine learning tools and techniques - Python - particularly with data science libraries - Dimensionality reduction techniques (e.g. PCA, SVD, t-SNE, UMAP etc.) - Time series analysis methods - Tools to scale to larger models and datasets (e.g. PySpark and Spark) - Flask or other web frameworks for API development - Cloud machine-learning platforms (e.g. SageMaker) - A creative and resourceful problem solver - An excellent written communicator - Demonstrated interest and/or experience in the talent, workforce, and/or education sectors ## What we can offer - An important mission - A fascinating technical problem (i.e. an opportunity to make human talent legible) - Opportunity to join an exciting venture in its early stage - Competitive early-stage salary and benefits (incl. medical, dental, vision, paid parental leave) ## About the company AdeptID believes that everyone is adept. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, parental status, crime victims or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
