## About the role Brave is looking for a Backend Engineer to work on advancing Brave News, our new and already popular news product. Your work will impact the 30+MM monthly Brave users, helping to give them the best content experience available. ## Responsibilities - Improving outcomes through the use of data driven approaches, including statistical and machine learning approaches - Working on content sources through familiarity with RSS and scraping/parsing sources of content - Ensuring monitoring and reliability of systems - Contributing to an open source setting - Helping protect users' privacy and security - Communicating effectively in written and verbal English - Getting things done ## Requirements - Familiarity with RSS and scraping/parsing sources of content - Working knowledge of Python (or similar language) - An eye toward monitoring and reliability - Has a proven track record of improving outcomes through the use of data driven approaches, including statistical and machine learning approaches - Comfortable working in an open source setting - Has a passion for helping protect users' privacy and security - Written and verbal communication skills in English - Proven record of getting things done ## Nice to have - Experience with AWS and docker - Experience with the publisher/creator ecosystem - Familiarity with the advertising ecosystem
