Professor of Molecular Cell Biology and Biochemistry

## Responsibilities * Lead an independent, world-class research programme in the area of cellular organization and dynamics, working at the interface of cell biology, biochemistry, and biophysics to tackle cutting-edge problems. * Investigate biological systems at the cell, tissue, and/or (model) organism level. * Possibly drive the development of new technologies to probe cellular parameters. * Integrate concepts from different fields to develop unified models of cellular function that go beyond correlative observations. * Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. * Teach undergraduate level courses in German and English. * Teach graduate level courses in English. ## Requirements * Tenured professorship candidate. * Expertise in areas such as: * Spatial, temporal, and biophysical organization of cells * Gene expression * Genome organization, plasticity, and stability * Regulation of cell growth and division * Organelle function * Membrane biology * Membrane-less compartments * Intracellular trafficking and transport * Mechanisms of quality control and cellular homeostasis * Application materials must include: * A covering letter formally addressed to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr. Joël Mesot * A curriculum vitae * A list of publications * Three statements on a) research, b) teaching, c) leadership * Descriptions of the three most important achievements * A certificate of the highest degree * Closing date for applications: 31 August 2026. ## Nice to Have * Ability to integrate with complementing expertise in structural biology, functional genomics, systems and computational biology, tissue development and homeostasis, and molecular oncology. ## Benefits * Equal opportunity and family-friendly employer. * Values diversity. * Responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.
