Research and Development Project Manager
Summary Ensure the effective implementation of EU-funded R&D projects, maintaining alignment with approved objectives, milestones, timelines, and contractual obligations. The role combines project coordination, technical contribution, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring high-quality delivery across all project dimensions. Duties and Responsibilities Manage and oversee EU-funded R&D projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery of project objectives. Represent eBOS in consortia, meetings, workshops, conferences, and training events, in Cyprus and internationally. Lead and coordinate project activities at Work Package or/and Task Leader, covering technical, scientific and horizontal activities, such as dissemination, communication, exploitation, innovation, and quality and risk management. Engage with the Programme Manager(s) to gain a clear understanding of the project scope, responsibilities, and consortium dynamics. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress and ensure continuous alignment with technical objectives, KPIs, and contractual commitments. Prepare, review, and ensure timely submission of high-quality technical and non-technical deliverables and periodic reports. Perform quality assurance and risk management activities, including risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution. Coordinate effectively with internal teams, consortium partners, and management to ensure coherent project execution and communication. Contribute to technical research, development, and innovation activities, where relevant to the project scope. Define and refine technical specifications in collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring feasibility and alignment with project objectives. Engage with Programme Managers, particularly during project initiation, to ensure clear understanding of proposal commitments, roles, and expected outcomes. Support the reuse of project results, tools, and methodologies across the organisation, contributing to continuous improvement and future proposal development. Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders. Operate effectively in multicultural and demanding environments, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and a results-oriented approach. Remain up to date with relevant research, technologies, and project management practices to support continuous professional development. Reporting Line Reports to the assigned R&D Project Management Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader. Skills & Knowledge Requirements University degree in ICT, Engineering, or a related Science discipline, with a Master’s degree in a relevant field, ideally in project management. A PhD is considered an advantage. Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in managing EU-funded R&D projects, under programmes, such as Horizon Europe, the Digital Europe Programme, and the European Defence Fund. Good knowledge of EU project implementation requirements, including deliverables, milestones, reporting, and compliance. Solid understanding of ICT, and/or ICT related R&D topics, with the ability to engage in technical discussions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including strong presentation abilities. Knowledge of Greek is considered an advantage. Demonstrated research and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail, planning, and coordination. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in demanding environments. Strong organisational, interpersonal, time management and negotiation skills, with experience collaborating with international partners. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as electronic collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Project Management certification, such as PMP, is considered an advantage. Willingness and ability to travel internationally for project meetings and related activities.
