Sr. Export Compliance PM, Amazon Leo

## Responsibilities - Drive the strategic development and implementation of Amazon Leo's comprehensive export compliance program, encompassing U.S. (EAR/ITAR) and global trade regulations across multiple countries and jurisdictions. - Lead export compliance due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, including sanctions screening, ITAR registration reviews, and integration planning to ensure trade compliance risks are identified and mitigated early. - Design and implement scalable compliance mechanisms for tangible/intangible exports, deemed exports, licensing, and classifications to support multi-country expansion and operational readiness. - Own the development and execution of country-specific export readiness assessments, enabling Amazon Leo to enter new international markets while maintaining full regulatory compliance. - Manage ongoing export compliance obligations across multiple countries of operation, adapting program controls to local regulatory requirements and evolving business needs. - Conduct foreign national reviews and make export license determinations, including deemed export assessments, to support hiring, contractor engagement, and collaboration across international teams. - Provide expert guidance on EAR and ITAR requirements specifically within cloud and AI computing environments. - Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, legal, tax, HR, and IT teams to develop compliance solutions that support rapid innovation. - Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to simplify and strengthen the export compliance program while balancing business objectives with regulatory requirements. - Take ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional challenges where the path forward is unclear — define the problem, develop the approach, and drive to resolution with minimal direction. ## Requirements - 5+ years of HR, privacy, legal, compliance or risk management experience - Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities - Experience in ownership of projects and communicating timelines and executing independently - 5+ years of export compliance experience in a global corporate environment - Strong understanding of US export regulations including EAR & ITAR - Experience managing export compliance across multiple international jurisdictions - Experience with export licensing, including foreign national reviews and deemed export determinations - Experience with IT system controls, cloud computing, and AI ## Nice to Have - Experience working within a global company, with multi-country responsibilities - Experience in Space Vehicle/Satellite Operations, Space Communications or related industry - Aerospace or technology manufacturing industry experience - Experience conducting export compliance due diligence for M&A, partnerships, or corporate transactions - Experience developing export readiness frameworks for new country market entry - Advanced compliance training, Masters or Law degree is a plus, but is not required - Experience identifying, creating, and driving strategic trade initiatives - Experience working with global trade ERP systems ## Benefits Amazon has ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally.
